PSI is a nonprofit organization established in 1970 that delivers products and services to improve health and save lives in the fields of malaria and other public health priority areas. PSI supports Ministries of Health in 70 countries across the world. In 1994, PSI pioneered one of the worlds first operational Insecticide-treated bed nets (ITN) programs in the Central African Republic.
Today, PSI manages malaria control projects in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and South America. In 2005 alone, PSI delivered more than 8.4 million treated mosquito nets, over 10 million insecticide treatment kits and 3.6 million malaria treatments -- making it one of the largest distributors of ITNs in the world and an important implementing partner of the global Roll Back Malaria (RBM) partnership.
